Dublin Fire Brigade have led tributes to retired firefighter Mal Keenan.

The Dubliner died on Tuesday in Our Lady's Hospice. Harold's Cross after a long illness.

The brave hero started and finished his career on the C Watch in Dolphin's Barn Fire Station.

One person said: "I had the pleasure of working with Mal in the early 80's in The Barn.

"He was a terrific fireman and a thorough gentleman.

"Rest in Peace Mal."

Another person said: "Sorry to hear the sad news of Mal passing, we always have the memories of a great man.
