Tributes paid to Anthony McCurry as family left 'broken into pieces' by death

The heartbroken family of Anthony McCurry have paid tribute after his body was discovered.

A frantic search was launched after the 33-year-old who vanished last month, with cops releasing CCTV images of his last known movements.

However, police announced on Wednesday a body had been discovered in Almond Crescent, in Glasgow, at 8.25pm on Tuesday, August 17.

Formal identification was yet to take place but the family had been made aware.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

Emotional tributes have now flooded in from Anthony's family who have been left devastated by the news after desperately searching for him.

Taking to social media, his sister said: "Sadly last night my brother was found but sadly he was gone.

"You battled with your mental health demons for so long I can only take peace and comfort knowing that your not in that horrible and frightening place in your head anymore.

"We are all so heartbroken he was only 33.

"You're free and at peace now but look over us all especially my wee Dad never seen a guy so broken broke me in to pieces. Until we met again."

Another family member thanked people who had shared appeals to trace the 33-year-old as she broke the news of his tragic death.

She said: "As many of you may be aware my cousin Anthony was missing, yesterday we all went on a search and he was found but sadly it was not the outcome we hoped for.

"Thank you to all of the people who shared and helped get his face out there."

"Rip Anthony say hello to my dad and the rest of the clang you were a soul to innocent for this world."

One loved one urged people to light a candle in her cousin's memory as she wished him to 'fly high'.

"Devastating. My Big Cousin Anthony has grew his angels wings. Fly High cuz your no suffering anymore. Memories will last forever. God Bless you rest in paradise. Love you.

"Thoughts go out to my uncle John and his sisters and the rest of all the family heartbreaken time. RIP Anthony Mccurry."

Another added: "God rest your soul Anthony thinking of your and your family watch over them all grieving for you grant them strength and comfort through this difficult time."

A fundraiser has also been launched to help the family with funeral costs following his death.

A message on the GoFundMe page read: "In memory of Anthony McCurry lets help the family give him the send off he deserves."
