Tributes paid to angelic schoolgirl after brave lifelong fight with Cystic Fibrosis

Tributes have poured in for a young schoolgirl who has tragically died after a brave lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis.

Indie-Rose Breckon, aged eight, sadly passed away after being placed on life support for several weeks in hospital.

The youngster, from Boosbeck, Teesside, was born with the debilitating condition which affects the lungs and digestive system, and she had to undergo many hospital admissions and medical treatments throughout her short life.

Teesside Live reports that despite her condition, Indie's family says that she faced everything that came her way with a 'sparkling and infectious smile'.

Indie's Army was created as a support system to help her loved ones through this heartbreaking time.

Indie's cousin, Donna Leighton said: "Indie-Rose inspired everyone she met with her brave attitude and she put up a huge fight right up to the end.

"Her story inspired so many people and Indie's Army as well as the local community in Boosbeck passed on so much love and strength to Indie's mam Sally, dad Jay, sister Olivia and baby brother Louis."

Indie-Rose absolutely loved TikTok and passed the time during hospital stays by singing and dancing to the latest trending songs.

She often made up dances with her best friend Auntie Phoebe - who according to cousin Donna was a 'huge support' throughout her life.

Through the social platform, Indie-Rose received well wishes from all around the world including from England footballer Kalvin Phillips, TV's Richard Madeley as well as TikTok stars such as the Manley Family and the Hudson twins.

The youngster's home of Boosbeck has been left 'heartbroken' by her death, and held a vigil on the day she passed away - on Tuesday, December 14 - to remember her and show support for the family.

The village's Christmas tree has been lit up purple in memory of Indie-Rose and the community has been rallying around her loved ones.

Tributes were laid at her primary school and a fundraiser has been created to help pay for a horse drawn carriage so Indie-Rose can have a special final journey through the village where she grew up.

Cousin Donna added: "Indie's family have shown so much courage throughout her fight and appreciate all the love and messages they have received in such a dark time.

"At Indie's funeral on January 4, we hope to give her the best send off she deserves and celebrate the beautiful, strong and vibrant girl she was."

The fundraiser set up by Donna has already raised over £3,000 and keeps increasing as tributes from all over Teesside flood in.

Indie-Rose Breckon will be remembered as a 'warrior princess' who bravely battled Cystic Fibrosis her whole life and always did so with her 'beaming smile, infectious personality and heart warming positivity.'
