Tributes paid to Airdrie man who lost his life in road collision

FAMILY and friends have paid tribute to an Airdrie man who lost his life in a road collision.

Danny Anderson died after his motorbike collided with a car on Plains Main Street last Thursday afternoon.

Road policing officers have issued an appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage of the incident.

The fatal crash occurred at around 4.30pm at the junction with Northburn Street and involved Mr Anderson’s blue and white Suzuki motorcycle and a black Volkswagen Fox car.

The 27-year-old mechanic and motorbike enthusiast was pronounced dead after medics arrived, while the motorist was uninjured.

Floral tributes and football tops carrying touching messages have been left at the scene, while friends of Mr Anderson took to social media to offer their condolences to his loved ones.

Catherine Haughian wrote: “Thinking of all the family. God love the poor lad, always in my thoughts xxx.”

Mary Mcdowell said: “So, so sad. Prayers and thoughts to the Anderson family x.”

Varry Lindsay said simply: “Rest easy Danny.”

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder, from Police Scotland’s road policing, said: “We are asking for anyone who was in the area around 4.30pm and either saw the crash take place or the motorcyclist beforehand to please come forward.

“If anyone has potential dash-cam footage or CCTV prior to the incident that would also greatly assist our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2348 of September 24.
