Tributes paid as tragic Scots cyclist killed in horror A90 two-car crash named

Tributes have been paid to a Scots cyclist who has died in a horror smash with two cars.

Robert Cowie, 52, has been named as the man who died in yesterday' s tragic incident where he was killed on the A90 in Aberdeenshire.

The crash happened about 2.30pm near Boddam and involved two other vehicles - a grey Seat Ateca car and a white Volkswagen Crafter van.

The road was closed both ways as emergency services raced to the scene.

Paramedics rushed to help the stricken cyclist but the 52-year-old was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither of the drivers involved were injured.

Cops are probing the incident and have called on anyone with information to come forward.

Tributes have been paid to Robert.

Peterhead South and Cruden councillor Alan Fakley told the Record: "This is a tragic incident and my thoughts and prayers are with the man's family and friends."

Shirley Cruickshank wrote: "So sad, I was thinking of him today when I was sitting in the queue of traffic."

Lisa Balloch wrote: "Will be sorely missed in the village Robert."

Sergeant Craig McNeill of the Road Policing Department said, "Our thoughts are with everyone affected and particularly with Robert's family and friends.

"I would urge anyone who may have information about the collision and has not already spoken to officers to contact police as soon as possible.

"We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw Robert cycling southwards on the A90 around the time of the collision.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident number 1710 of 2 December."
