Tributes paid as 'popular' Finglas man killed in horror road crash named locally

Tributes have flooded in for a man who was tragically killed in a horrific motor crash in Dublin during the week.

Mark Hayden, tragically died when the bicycle he was cycling collided with a bus near Dublin Airport at Kilshane Cross on Tuesday morning.

Hayden, aged in his 40s, was treated at the scene before being taken to Connolly Hospital where he died just hours after the collision.

Living in Finglas but originally from Carlow, Mark was a Celtic football fanatic who was described by family and friends as being "irreplaceable", Dublin Live reports.

One friend told Dublin Live: "He was a very good family friend. He was very popular around Finglas and will be greatly missed. I am heartbroken. He was a hard worker and loved life. He was one of the good ones."

Another said: "Sleep tight Mark, until we meet again my friend, heartbreaking."

A third added: "May you get the best bed in heaven Mark, R.I.P. You are irreplaceable."

Forensics completed a technical examination of the scene after the road was closed for over 12 hours with Gardai now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to any road users who were travelling in the Newtown area from Kilshane Cross to Dublin Airport yesterday morning and who may have camera footage.
