Tributes paid as death of popular Howth man Tommy Caffrey leaves community heartbroken

Tributes have been paid to Howth man Tommy Caffrey who has sadly passed away.

Mr Caffrey died "peacefully" in St Francis Hospice on Tuesday. He will is survived by his sisters, brothers, nieces nephews and many friends. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday in St Fintan's Church in Sutton. It will be live streamed.

One community member wrote on Facebook: "Ah very sad news…RIP Tom." Another said: "So sorry to read this announcement. RIP Tom and deepest sympathies to Aileen, Art and all the Caffrey family."

A third wrote: "Sorry to hear about Tom’s passing, RIP." The notice on RIP.ie reads that he died "peacefully at St. Francis Hospice, Raheny, beloved son of the late Thomas (Tommy) and Maeve; lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his sisters Norann and Aileen, brother Art, brothers-in-law Peter and Alfredo, sister-in-law Pauline, niece Rachel, nephew Cian, cousins, extended family and his many friends."

It continued: "Reposing at the Kirwan Funeral Home, Fairview Strand on Friday afternoon with family in attendance from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock. Requiem Mass on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock in St. Fintan’s Church, Sutton. Funeral thereafter to St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Sutton."
