Tributes paid after tragic death of Northern Irish actress Julie Maxwell who starred in BBC comedy Soft Border Patrol

Tributes have been paid to actress Julie Maxwell after her tragic death at the age of 36.

Julie, who played Charlene Dunn in hit, BBC comedy Soft Border Patrol, is believed to have collapsed suddenly on Saturday night.

She was rushed to Belfast hospital, where she later died.

Police in Northern Ireland are not treating the death as suspicious.

Marie McDonald is a producer on the show through production company The Comedy Unit.

Ms McDonald told BBC News: "She was a dear, dear friend, and much loved part of our Soft Border Patrol family.

"We are devastated, and our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Rhodri, her family and friends."

Meanwhile Justin Binding, BBC's Executive Producer of the show said: "We are shocked and saddened to hear the news of Julie’s sudden death.

"She was a talented actor who brought much laughter to our screens in Soft Border Patrol.

"We would like to offer our deepest condolences to Julie’s family and friends at this time."

The PSNI said it had received a report of the sudden death of a female, aged in her 30s, at a Belfast hospital on Sunday August 25.

A spokesman added: "A post mortem examination will take place in due course however the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time."
