Tributes have been paid after a man died in a horror crash in Fife having reportedly suffering a heart attack at the wheel.
The 63-year-old - named locally as John King - was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on the A92 near the Cowdenbeath junction at around 10pm on Saturday.
Emergency services raced to the scene, before a boy, aged 12, and a baby, aged one, were taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
The children suffered minor injuries and were kept in overnight for observation.
Lochgelly local John's devastated wife Ann posted on social media he was the driver in the incident and had crashed after suffering a cardiac arrest.
An outpouring of support flooded social media after the sad news was confirmed.
One person wrote: “Thoughts are with the family of the person who lost his life.”
Another posted: ”So very sad thoughts and love to the families involved.”
While a third commented: “My thoughts are with the family at this time.”
Witnesses told of chaos that ensued on the road as traffic piled up in the wake of the smash.
The road was closed for a number of hours and re-opened at around 1pm on Sunday.
Police officers say enquiries are ongoing into the fatal crash.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Record: “At around 9.55pm on Saturday September 12 officers in Fife received reports of a one vehicle crash on the A92 near the Cowdenbeath junction.
“Emergency services attended and a 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Two boys, a 12-year-old and a one year old baby, were taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment to minor injury and kept overnight for observation.
"The road was closed for a number of hours and reopened around 1pm on Sunday, September 13.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
Fire crews also attended the scene.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman told the Record: "We were called to a road traffic accident at 10.07pm on Saturday, September 12 and the A92, between Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath.
"Three appliances were sent to deal with the incident."
