Tributes have flowed in for a "lovely" Dublin grandad who passed away on Monday.

John Mooney from Balally, Sandyford and formerly Ringsend died "peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Belmont Nursing Home, Stillorgan" on December 27/

Mr Mooney was a father of four and grandfather of ten.

Many paid tribute to him online after his death.

One wrote: "So sorry to hear of John's passing I have known him for over 50 years. RIP."

Another said: "He was a really decent man in all walks of life. RIP."

A third wrote: "Thinking of all John's family at this sad time. He was a lovely man."

His funeral mass was on Friday morning in St. Mary’s Church, Sandyford Village and he was buried in Kilternan Cemetery Park.
