Tributes flow in for well-known Dublin 'gentleman' and Ballybough legend Johny Doyle who has sadly died

The community of Ballybough is devastated to hear the news of the death of local legend Johny Doyle.

Johny was very well-known around the area and was described as a "gentleman" by those who knew him best.

He was a frequent visitor to The Hideout on Campbell's Row who kicked off the tributes to a man who will be "sorely missed by all".

They said: "It’s with a heavy heart we bid farewell to our good friend and neighbour Johny Doyle.

"You’ve been with us since day one, a gentleman who always had kind words to say and a helping hand to offer.

"You always took the time to stop and chat and ask how everyone was, the square has lost a good one.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Madeline, Linda, Ralo and the girls along with your brother and sisters.

"You will be sorely missed by all your pals at The Hideout and by all your neighbours. Rest in peace Johny."

The Hideout added that Thursday Bingo would be cancelled as a mark of respect to their dear friend.

Another local said: "RIP Johny. I'm really going to miss our little chats every night. I hope you're at peace where ever you are. This is a hard pill to swallow. love you pal and until the next time."

A second added: "So sorry to hear about Johny. He was such a gentleman. Thinking of all his family at this sad time. Rest in Peace."

A third commented: "RIP Johnny. That’s very sad, how time flies by. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
