Tributes Flow For Pheobe Bishop After Police Find Human Remains In Search For The Missing Teen

Pheobe Bishop has been remembered as a “bright, kind-hearted, and deeply loved young woman” after police confirmed they found human remains in the search for the missing teenager.

On Friday, Queensland Police confirmed it had found human remains during a search of an area near Good Night Scrub National Park, which is less than an hour away from the 17-year-old’s Gin Gin home.

While the remains have yet to be formally identified, police believe they belong to Bishop.

The devastating discovery, Bishop’s mother, Kylie Johnson, took to Facebook, expressing that the news was “ripping me apart”.

“I didn’t think my heart could break anymore than it did when you went missing, or when the charges were laid, but this! This is ripping me apart,” she wrote.

In a second post, Johnson supported a GoFundMe page created in honour of the teen.

Under Johnson’s post, family members, friends and members of the community came forward with messages of support and condolences for the beloved teenager.

“My condolences to you and your family, may you get justice for your beautiful girl,” one person wrote.

“Oh my heart. The whole country was praying with you, mumma. Shattered for you, beyond words,” another person commented.

“We send our love, Kylie, Uncle and cousins, it’s definitely hitting hard to see this so official now. Let’s just get her home now so we can put her to rest,” a third penned.

A candlelight vigil for Pheobe Bishop will be held this afternoon at Kolan Community Park from 4pm to 6pm, with Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn encouraging participants to show up in bright colours and butterflies.

“May you always be wild and free,” the flyer read.

Johnson has also thanked Queensland Police, SES and Bundaberg SES for their efforts.

“These guys have literally been on their hands and knees to find our Baby and get her home to us… I will honestly never be able to repay them for what they have done for my family and Pheobe,” Johnson wrote.

“They have worked 24-hour days since Phee went missing and they won’t stop until she’s home! Myself and my family will never be able to repay the sacrifices they make daily for not only our family but all our families.”

Last Thursday, Bishop’s housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, were arrested in relation to the teenager’s disappearance. They have since been charged with one count each of murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse.

Bishop was last seen near Bundaberg airport, where she was due to board a flight to Western Australia. However, police allege that she never checked in or entered the terminal.
