American singer Oliver Tree has been honoured by friends, family and fans after he passed away in a helicopter collision in Brazil.
On Sunday (local time), two helicopters flying over Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro collided, resulting in the deaths of all six people on board, including the 32-year-old singer.
Since then, folks have come to his page, remembering the artist for his creativity, passion, and contribution to the music industry.
“Rest in peace, man,” YouTuber Deji commented under Tree’s latest post.
“The sweetest, funniest dude ever,” Benny Blanco penned.
“So sad,” Aussie artist Tkay Maidza wrote.
Fellow artist and DJ, Gatter (born as Tanner Stephen Petulla), shared a heartfelt tribute to Tree, describing him as the “definition of a best friend”.
“I literally can’t believe I’m writing this right now,” Getter began.
“We started music at the same time and helped each other out ’til the very end. But even before all that oliver was the greatest friend I could ask for. He always made time to catch up with me, no matter how busy he was.”
“I have countless stories with him from when we were teenagers, working our asses off to try and make it in music. Oliver made that journey so much more enjoyable because he would always stop to smell the flowers. He helped me out of so many dark places so many times. truly a light in my life,” he continued.
“I love you, and I’d be nothing without you, brother. Oliver Tree forever.”
According to The Guardian, Rio de Janeiro’s military fire department claimed the helicopters crashed on a car dealership, where several electric cars were parked. As a result, a fire broke out and was later extinguished.
An investigation into how the collision occurred is underway.
Known for his iconic tracks “Life Goes On”, “Miss You”, and “Jerk”, Tree was set to play 70 shows in 30 countries during his Love You Madly Hate You Badly World Tour.
In May 2020, Tree broke the Guinness World Record for the largest kick scooter, with the artist choosing this record to “fulfil a lifelong dream”.
