The popular Sallynoggin woman held the title for "longest-serving ice cream lady in Dun Laoghaire".

A touching tribute on the store's Facebook page read: "All of Teddys Ice Cream locations will remain closed on Friday 29th January, as a mark of respect to the passing of our dear friend and long time colleague, Rita Shannon, (Sallynoggin).
