A Victorian man is under police guard in hospital after a young father was killed in a suspected stabbing in Geelong.

Dylan Bond, 26, has been identified as the man who died in the residential suburb of Thomson on Monday afternoon.

Dozens of tributes have been posted online for the Corio father and husband as news spread of his death.

"Thank you for being there for me whenever I needed a friend, thank you for being the absolute best to everyone," a woman wrote, adding that Mr Bond was an "amazing friend, husband and dad".

Others remembered 'Bondie' as a larrikin, top bloke and kind-souled person with a cheeky grin.

"A son, a father, a brother and a husband that will never be forgotten ... the whole community will be feeling a sense of loss today," another post read.

A 32-year-old North Geelong man was checked into hospital overnight with non-life-threatening injuries and is assisting police.

No charges have been laid as homicide detectives continue to investigate.

Another 24-year-old Corio man discovered with life-threatening injuries at the crime scene was taken to hospital.
