Tributes have been flowing for a dad-of-four formerly of Dublin whose remains were found after a three-year search.
Gardai have stood down the investigation to find Sean Bond who was reported missing on Christmas Eve in 2017.
The 51-year-old was last seen around 12pm that day before going missing from his Mullingar home.
Remains were found by gardai a fortnight ago and were identified as Sean's with gardai standing down the missing person report on Thursday.
He will be sadly missed by his partner, four children and two grandchildren.
His death notice on RIP.ie says: "Sean of Co Westmeath and formerly Dublin, departed prematurely from this life.
“He will be very sadly missed by his partner Denise, his children Dylan, Summer, Jordan and Evangeline, his grandchildren Robyn and Kayden.
“Predeceased by his father Christy, Sean will be sadly missed by his mother Vera, by his sisters Annette and Jean and by his brothers Chris, Lar, David and Paul, his nieces and nephews and his extended family and friends.”
A garda spokeswoman said: "Following the discovery of human remains in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath on 8th May 2021, the search for missing person Sean Bond has been stood down.
"Sean went missing from his home in Mullingar on 24th December 2017.
"His remains were located in a wooded area in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath on 8th May 2021. A post-mortem was conducted by the Office of the State Pathologist.
"An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter. No further information is available at this time."
