Tributes flow after 'well-liked' man who tragically died in Dun Laoghaire named

Tributes have been flowing in for a young homeless man who tragically died in Dun Laoghaire on July 13.

Igor, who was originally from Latvia, became homeless after losing his job as a chef.

He was known to locals in Dun Laoghaire and the charity group Dun Laoghaire Helping the Homeless had previously came to his aid.

One local woman, who was involved in the charity, took Igor under her wing and looked after him during the past year.

Following his tragic death last week, the good Samaritan went to great lengths to get in contact with Igor's family in Latvia.

A post in a local Facebook group praised the woman, saying she has gone "above and beyond."

The post said that the woman gave Igor a send off on Thursday and he is now on his way home to Latvia thanks to her.

The young man touched the hearts of many locals in Dun Laoghaire.

One said: "This is incredibly sad. My heart goes out to all he touched in his life and his family. RIP."

Another said: "He was such a lovely guy and didn't deserve to be in that situation. My heart is broken for him and his family."

Locals have also acknowledged the help Igor received from the local Dun Laoghaire woman.

"It's good to know he met people who cared," one commented.

Another said: "Thank God for people like (the woman) who cared for this young man and went out of her way to make sure he got home to Latvia. RIP."
