Tributes flow after heartbroken friends and family learn tragic discovery of body is missing Dublin man

Tributes have been flowing in from heartbroken family and friends after they learned that the discovery of a body yesterday was that of missing Dublin man John Walsh

His loved ones' worst fears were confirmed when Gardai said they were ending the search for the Portmarnock man after the tragic find on April 30.

The 42-year-old was last seen in the Strand Road area of Portmarnock on March 8, at around 10pm

Investigating officers on the missing person case said: "Following the discovery of a body on 30th April 2020 and subsequent forensic investigation, the missing person search for John Walsh has been stood down."

As the sad news emerged, family and friends rallied together sharing their memories of their beloved pal.

One close relative said: "The family of John Walsh want to thank everyone from the police his neighbours, friends and everyone on Facebook who shared our statuses and tried to help find John.

"Unfortunately we got the sad news that John's body has been found.

"Not the outcome we expected but at least we can all have peace now thanks so much."

Another close mate said: "Rest in Peace John. Can't get my head around it. Still remember the days of you managing me at St Malachy's football club, I vividly remember winning the league with you.

"The one manager I won any trophies with was you, got the winning mentality from you man

"Hope you get the best bed in heaven."

A third said: "God rest you John, see you soon. We used to have some craic at strand house."

Another added: "R.I.P John. You were a wonderful man. Not a bad bone in your body."
