Tributes flood in to 'lovely lad' as man found dead in car is named locally

Hundreds of tributes have flooded in to a "lovely lad" who was found dead in a car.

In a statement, Lancashire Police said officers made the discovery on Sunday, while investigating a concern for welfare of a man.

The man, in his 30s, was found by dead in a parked BMW on Liverpool Old Road, just off the A59 near Tarleton at around 5.15pm.

He has been named locally as Matthew by his heartbroken friends and loved ones.

Tributes have poured in on social media for Matthew, with many sharing their condolences with his family online.

Describing him as a "great guy" one man wrote: "Devastating news this, so sad. So so sorry RIP Matthew such a great guy."

Paying tribute a former colleague wrote: "I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with Matty back in 2012 and he was a lovely lad. RIP Matty."

Another said: "So so sad. Heartfelt condolences to all of Matthew's friends and family. I worked with him for a fair while. Such a nice person."

Paying tribute on the ECHO's Facebook page, Tracy Perry wrote: "Rest in peace Mathew. Thinking of the family at this sad time. x"

Brian Lawless said: "RIP Matty, sad to lose a workmate. Thoughts with the family."

In a statement, a spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “Officers investigating a concern for the welfare of a man in his 30s found a car in Liverpool Old Road, just off the A59 near Tarleton, at 5.15pm yesterday (November 29).

“Sadly, officers found the body of a deceased male inside the vehicle.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed.

“A file will be passed onto HM Coroner in due course.”
