Tributes flood in to 'gentle giant' as body of missing dad found

Tributes have been paid to a dad-of-three who was found dead just days after his disappearance.

Carl Sutcliffe, 45, was reported missing from his home in St Helens on Saturday, November 14.

In a statement today, Merseyside Police said the body of the 45-year-old was found in Glasgow on Tuesday, November 17.

His death is not believed to be suspicious at this stage and a post mortem will be carried out, police said.

His next of kin have been informed.

Hundreds of tributes have flooded in on social media to Mr Sutcliffe from family, friends and the general public.

Sharing a tribute on behalf of Mr Sutcliffe's partner Vicky on Facebook, friend Klara wrote: "I want to thank everyone who shared the post regarding Carl missing. Sadly today he was found and he’s no longer here with us.

"I have loved every single second minute hours days and years with you and I don’t regret a second of them and if I could do it all again I would in a heartbeat.

"You made me feel loved, adored and our unit will never be the same without you here.

"But I thank you for being you and you gave me my precious three sons, who have done and will continue to make you proud and I know you’ll walk through my life with us. xxx"

"Our hearts will be broken forever but you know you were my one and only ever and always will be.

"Rest now Carl you deserve to be at peace x. Love you Vicky. xxx"

People from across Merseyside and beyond also shared messages of heartbreak and condolences with the family.

One man wrote: "So sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing Carl when his son played for St Helens Town. A gentle giant and a great fella."

One woman said: "RIP Carl. Love and prayers to your wife, boys, family and friends. xx"

Another wrote: "So sad and heartbreaking, thinking of all his family. We met him when his son played in our rugby team really nice fella. xxx"

A fourth said: "RIP Carl, so sorry Vicky and the boys. Loved talking to you and your baby when I worked in Asda. God bless you all heartbroken for you."

While another wrote: "I am saddened to hear this awful news. I cannot imagine what you are going through, take care of yourself and your boys. xx"
