Tributes flood in for tragic schoolgirl Aimee Louise Park found dead in Newmains home

A 14-year-old girl found dead at her home was described as “one in a million” by a pal yesterday.

Aimee Louise Park died at a property in Newmains, Lanarkshire, on Wednesday morning.

Police said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the Clyde Valley High School pupil.

Her friends took to social media following the tragedy to urge those struggling with mental health problems to reach out for support.

One wrote on Facebook: “It’s time for all the young ones to get together. So many lives are taken far too soon.

“Please forget your little arguments or b*tchy comments. Be there for each other.

“Please come together at this time and make sure we are all OK. It’s OK not to be OK.”

Aimee’s sister Stephanie Park posted: “I love you forever, baby sis.”

Her best friend described her as an “amazing wee lassie” and a “kind-hearted and gorgeous person”.

Another tribute said: “She was one in a million. She was so amazing and beautiful, and so talented.”

Police said a post-mortem was being carried out to establish the exact cause of death.

North Lanarkshire charity FAMS (Families and Friends Against Murder and Suicide) launched a campaign calling for suicide prevention and mental health programmes to become mandatory in schools following the recent deaths of a number of young people in the area.

Their Give Youth a Chance petition – published by the Scottish Government and backed by the Record – amassed more than 2000 signatures before it closed this week.

The charity is offering support following the latest tragedy at its premises in Orbiston Street, Motherwell, between 12noon and 6pm today.
