Tributes flood in for much-loved garage owner after suddenly passing away

Tributes have poured in for a much-loved Lanarkshire garage owner who passed away suddenly last week.

Sean Ward, 51, ran the Somervell MOT garage in Cambuslang for 14 years, and was a well-kent face throughout the local area.

Announcing his passing, his family stated: "Just wanted to let people know that sadly my dad passed away this morning.

"We are all absolutely heartbroken.

"Thank you to everyone for your messages, calls and such kind words - we have no words ourselves."

Sean is survived by his wife Claire, who he was married to for 33 years, and his six children - Kristopher, Nell, Chanele, Jonathan, Kacie and Seanece.

After the news was announced there were hundreds of posts on social media remembering Sean for his kindness and generosity.

Jillian Black wrote: "I know how kind he was to me when I first opened my salon at Somervell Street and so many others will have the similar memories of him for his genuine kindness and support for our local community.

"He had so much time for everybody and did so much for the community that he never bragged or boasted about but definitely deserves the recognition for it."

Another local posted: "So sorry to hear this. He was a lovely man, always put you at ease...especially if you are not used to dealing with cars and garages."

Numourus comments referenced his helpful nature and how he went out of his way to assist others.

One wrote: "I am so so sad to hear this - and can’t quite believe it . He was the nicest , most helpful and thoughtful person you could meet."

Another stated: "Sean was a real gentleman and always so helpful."

Another poster remembered: "I could always trust him 100 per cent. The amount of times he would fix something with my car and not take a penny for it as it was a simple fix. It didn’t go unnoticed and he always had my business."

A balloon release in Sean's memory took place last Sunday at the car park at Somervell MOT Station.

His funeral will take place on Monday October 4, at Daldowie Crematorium at 11.45am.
