Hundreds of people turned out for a vigil to a "popular" and widely-liked young man killed in an electric bike crash last week.
The 35-year-old, today named locally as David Burger, died two days after the accident at the junction of Park Street and Beaufort Street, Dingle.
He was riding an electric bike through the street when he was hit by a car and seriously injured.
Pictures of Mr Burger were released by his friends who gathered in large crowds last Friday for the vigil, during which lanterns were released into the sky and candles lit at the roadside.
Floral tributes and messages were left at a growing shrine with recollections of the 35-year-old, known by the nickname "Burg" and "Buck."
One woman said: "RIP mate ,you will never be forgotten. What a lovely lad."
Another woman added: "Heartbreaking, RIP lad, and fly high with the angels."
Today, police said they were still investigating the crash.
The driver of a Vauxhall Grandland stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with enquiries.
Last week, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that a 35-year-old man has died following a serious road traffic collision in Dingle on Tuesday night (1 June).
"At around 8.15pm, reports were received of a collision involving a Vauxhall Grandland and a man riding an electric bike at the junction of Park Street and Beaufort Street.
"The man was taken to hospital by ambulance, but has now sadly passed away. Family Liaison Officers are supporting his family.
"The driver of the Vauxhall Grandland stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.
"We can confirm that a police vehicle was travelling on Park Street and witnessed the collision.
"Officers carried out advanced emergency first aid on the man until paramedics arrived.
"The investigation continues and we are continuing to appeal for information."
Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed anything of significance before or after the crash or who may have captured something before or during the collision on dashcam or other devices.
It is believed the car travelled along Dingle Lane toward the city, before the incident passing Mill Street and turning left into Park Street to where the collision occurred.
The electric bike, police said, had travelled along Malta Street and Upper Park Street before travelling along Park Street.
