A Go Fund Me page has been set up for donations to the family of a five-year-old girl who died after being found in a hot car at Port Stephens.
Natasha Gorjup died on Sunday, five days after she was rushed to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition when she was discovered inside a car parked in a Tanilba Bay driveway.
Teigan Campbell has started a fundraising page on the Go Fund Me website to collect donations to help the family cover funeral costs.
The page had raised about half its $2000 target as of Monday afternoon.
"This morning this beautiful little angel gained her wings, fly high baby girl foreva [sic] in our hearts," Ms Campbell wrote on the page.
Natasha was unresponsive when she was pulled from the car about 4.30pm last Tuesday.
Paramedics worked on the child before the Westpac Rescue Helicopter arrived at the scene, carrying a critical care medical crew.
Natasha was placed in an induced coma and was flown to John Hunter Hospital where she was put into intensive care.
Detectives had been investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, but the Newcastle Herald understands no charges are expected to be laid over Natasha's death.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
Natasha reportedly got into the vehicle when she had been playing outside, without her parents' knowledge.
Tributes have flowed from the community on social media since Sunday.
"Such a terrible accident condolences to the family, RIP little one," Maree Turner wrote on the Newcastle Herald's Facebook page.
"RIP little one. Thinking of your dear parents at this sad time," Liz Murray posted.
"My heart is breaking for this family, RIP Little Angel," Bev Cousins wrote.
