Tribute to 'loving dad,' wedding nightmare and 'nasty assault'

Good evening, these are the latest ECHO headlines on Thursday, February 24, to keep you up to date.

'Loving dad' was stuffed into car then found dead three days later

A man found dead in Skelmersdale has been named as a "loving dad" who will leave a spot in a family that will "never be filled".

Shortly after 4.30pm on Friday, February 18, a member of the public reported seeing a man being forced into the back of a vehicle on Almond Grove in the Worsley Hall area of Wigan.

Lancashire Police officers were then called to White Moss Road South at around 11am on Tuesday, February 22, where they found a body - now identified as Christopher Hughes, from Wigan.

Three men, aged 29, 48 and 51, have been arrested in connection with 37-year-old Christopher's kidnap and death. They remain in custody for questioning.

Couple's wedding nightmare as Thornton Manor 'refuse £11k refund' after fire

A couple's wedding plans have turned into a nightmare as Thornton Manor reportedly refused to refund them £11,000 despite cancelling the wedding.

The couple were set to tie the knot at Thornton Manor on April 2 - but following a devastating fire at the venue in Thornton Hough have decided to move to a new venue.

But the couple claimed Thornton Manor said it can't afford to refund them for the wedding which cost around £11,000 - leaving the couple unsure on what to do.

Molly Foster and Jordan Goldie, from Bolton, have moved their wedding date four times after first looking to get married in 2019 before the pandemic.

Ms Foster, 32, said the couple has paid around £11,000 for the wedding in Thornton Manor - and guests booked every one of the 22 rooms as well as a number of cottages on the estate.

The couple claimed all guests have now been told Thornton Manor can't refund any of them leaving them all out of pocket.

Man launched 'nasty assault' on victim walking in broad daylight

CCTV appeal after an assault in Huyton Village, on Derby Road (Merseyside Police)

A man launched a "nasty assault" on a man as he was walking along a busy road in broad daylight.

The attack took place at around 3.15pm, on Monday, January 10, in Huyton.

The victim was walking down Derby Road when he was approached by the suspect outside the Coffee House.

He was then assaulted by the man before the suspect ran from the scene.

Police said the victim had minor injuries but was left shaken by the incident.

Detectives have now issued some CCTV images of a person who they believe might be able to help them with the investigation.
