Trialists could feature in Notts County friendly double-header

Notts County face two pre-season friendlies on the same day as they tackle   Rolls Royce Leisure and Ilkeston Town.

The Magpies will be hoping to build on a victory over Nuneaton last weekend when they secured a 2-0 success to kick-off their summer schedule in solid fashion.

First, a Notts XI will tackle Rolls Royce Leisure on Saturday (12.30pm) in what has become an annual fixture which is designed to strengthen community relations.

The first team is then expected to face Ilkeston at 3pm, with the Robins being owned by current Magpies chairman Alan Hardy.

Notts boss Neal Ardley is not blessed with a huge squad in order to cover both games, but it is likely the majority of the senior squad will face the Evo-Stik side.

Winger Enzio Boldewijn, striker Kristian Dennis and midfielder Michael Doyle are all set to travel, while Pierce Bird and Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain are likely to play as a pair at centre-back.

Notts could include more trialists for both fixtures after the club ran the rule over former Chesterfield winger Kyel Reid and ex-Coventry defender Dion Kelly-Evans last weekend.

Both could figure for Notts again, although they are not in a position to sign anybody due to a transfer embargo as a result of the club’s debts.

On Wednesday, they avoided being wound-up by the High Court as a judge gave them a three-week extension to complete a sale to a Danish consortium.

It was the third time the case was adjourned.
