Out-of-contract NRL player Tristan Sailor will stand trial after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Sydney's south.

The 22-year-old former St George Illawarra player faces two charges of aggravated sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm.

Sailor is accused of sexually assaulting and injuring a 24-year-old woman at a home.

He was previously granted strict conditional bail and his famous father, former Wallabies and Kangaroos star Wendell Sailor, has been accompanying him to court.

Sailor was committed on Thursday in Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court to stand trial.

His next appearance was set down for June 18 in the District Court where he is expected to enter pleas.

Some of his bail conditions including that he not enter the south Sydney suburb of Wolli Creek, abstain from alcohol and illegal drugs, and observe a night-time curfew.

The NRL stood down Sailor under their no-fault policy, before his contract with the Dragons officially ended on October 31.
