Josephine Angelini did it again. This book blew me from the start to the finish. Alternate worlds? Who would have thought of that?
One of the best things about this book was the perspective change. The author would change the perspective every now and then which meant that as a reader I could come to understand the characters more and get inside their mind. Lily is such an average teen and I found this very relatable because nowadays the main females are not always "normal" as in they want to break down the society or they have a special talent. For example Katniss Everdeen or Tris Prior.
I would say the main themes in this book are finding out who you are and family. Lily has to understand the alternate universe she is in even if it means she is a witch and her sister in our world is also in the alternate universe (both of them are bonded together). Another theme is romance, the romance in this book is just perfect and Rowan is everybody's knight in shining armour.
This book is gripping and makes me wonder if there are really such things as alternate worlds and if there was what would I be like in that world? I do recommend this book because as well as being fast paced it has fantasy elements which make is much better. At the beginning there may be a little background information but that's absolutely fine because the author builds it up during the journey of reading the book. Without question I can't wait for Trial By tears which comes out next year. Maybe I could time travel to the future and read it before anyone else can…
