The never-ending, exhausting, annoying arguments between controller users and mouse-and-keyboard players in Call of Duty have officially been ended. Kind of.
Treyarch design director on the upcoming Black Ops 7, Matt Scronce, attempted to throw water on the incessant fire that pops up every single year in CoD in a recent interview with CharlieIntel. I give him credit because it won't end any complaints or debates, but he cited some data that may be of interest to gamers.

Ever since the introduction of crossplay, where players on a controller are consistently going up against players on PC with MnK, the debate has been one of many discussed by the community, especially when it comes to content creators raging after they die in a game like Warzone.
When asked about how controller players perform vs. MnK players, Scronce said that it's likely closer and more even than a lot of players would like to admit to themselves when it comes to the unending struggle of trying to balance a yearly title.
“So, I was just always looking at data, to be honest," Scronce told CharlieIntel and Dexerto. "Like, maybe that’s something I can give you some harder numbers on. But in multiplayer, we see damn near fifty-fifty win-loss rate between controllers and KBM. Like, it’s very, very close."
This kind of number doesn't shock me. Although he did not go into specifics, Scronce is basically saying "just play the game and deal with it." And really, what other choice do players have? Either use your preferred input and deal with some inconsistencies, or don't.
"Now that gets a little different when you get at longer ranges," he further explained. "And it depends on what weapons you use. Like, a controller player with a shotgun in close range is gonna win a bit more often than a KBM player. But a KBM player at long range with a sniper, they’re gonna win a bit more often, but it’s way closer than I think the community thinks. It’s damn near fifty-fifty in multiplayer.”
So, there you have it. There's no clear winner when it comes to inputs, according to Treyarch, so use what suits you best, maybe turn off crossplay if you're on console, and stay calm. Or rage every time you die. That's up to you.
