Trey Sermon first to lose his black stripe

Now that football is back on the table in the Big Ten and at Ohio State, we can start to get some black stripe alerts back in the fold.

For those not familiar, it is a right of passage for a newcomer to the program to have his black stripe removed on top of the iconic red stripe down the middle of the OSU helmet. You can practice, play, and be a part of the program, but you’re not really a part of the program until that black stripe is removed.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard about anyone receiving the honor, but the first is Oklahoma running back graduate transfer Trey Sermon. He’s expected to be a big factor in the offense in 2020, and he’s apparently been making moves in preseason camp.

Watch below as Sermon is introduced to the team and gives a short speech on being inducted into the Buckeye brotherhood.
