Trey Quinn wishes Jay Gruden hadn’t said he had the slot position ‘locked down’

With the lack of depth and experience that the Washington Redskins have at the wide receiver position going into the 2019 season, it was all but assumed that Trey Quinn was going to win the starting slot receiver roll without much opposition.

If you ask him, though, it would have been better to at least pretend there was a competition throughtout training camp, so he could avoid getting comfortable and complicit in the No. 1 spot.

Quinn is the “chip on his shoulder” type of player, and it has allowed him to reach the highest level of football despite standing only 6′ and 200 pounds. In 2018, the Redskins drafted Quinn with the very last pick of the draft, making him that year’s ‘Mr. Irrelevant.’ That name definitely fueled him.

After Jamison Crowder left Washington in free agency, the slot was left empty and in need of filling. Enter Trey Quinn. It’s his job to lose, and if he’s to continue getting better, there’s a good chance he treats every day like someone is about to steal it from him.
