Trey Quinn taking over the slot is a big deal based on his past production

Trey Quinn is the new slot man for the Washington Redskins, something Jay Gruden himself confirmed coming out of OTAs and minicamp.

Naturally, that makes Quinn something of an x-factor next year for the offense, especially if the Redskins trot out a first-year arrival like Case Keenum or even a rookie like Dwayne Haskins.

This was a role many could have seen coming for Quinn, the so-called Mr. Irrelevant from the 2018 draft. Above, Pro Football Focus offered a refresher as to why.

Quinn didn’t get a ton of time last year, appearing in just three games. But he’s back healthy this summer and didn’t even need training camp to arrive before he seized a big opportunity within the offense.

If Quinn’s past production is any sign, he could be in for a breakout season while helping along an offense trying to start over under center.
