Trey Quinn has a sense of urgency about playing, even in the preseason

It sounds like an injury will keep Washington Redskins wideout Trey Quinn off the field during Thursday’s preseason game.

Just don’t tell him that.

Quinn, tabbed as a big element of the passing offense this year, isn’t happy he won’t be able to give it a go.

“I like reps. I freakin’ love football. I don’t need them, but I want them,” Quinn said, according to Peter Hailey of NBC Sports Washington. “I get aggravated not being out there. I get pretty pissed off. I’m one of the guys that likes to be out there in practice, get the reps and then go in there prepared for the game.”

If the Redskins are lucky, this sort of enthusiasm for simply getting on the field is infectious.

Still, it is hard to blame the Redskins for holding out Quinn in games that don’t matter. He’s going to be a key facet of the attack, perhaps moreso than coaches are letting on while stressing a spread-it-around approach.

For now, Quinn will just have to watch.
