Trey Flowers contract details include $56 million in guarantees

Trey Flowers is really cashing in on his impressive run with the New England Patriots. The Detroit Lions are paying him $90 million over five years, an average of $18 million per year. That figure makes Flowers the second-highest paid EDGE (behind Chicago’s Khalil Mack) in the league when he signs.

In addition to the big total value, the new Lions EDGE will earn $56 million in guaranteed money against the salary cap over the course of the contract. A full $40 million is fully guaranteed at signing, a figure which includes his signing bonus.

The contract does not become official until Wednesday, when the NFL league year changes and teams can officially sign free agents.
