Trevor Sinclair predicts Celtic league fightback as he puts forward Rangers Europa League theory

Trevor Sinclair insists Celtic can fight back and win the Scottish Premiership - and reckons Rangers in the Europa League could play a part in it.

The former West Ham and Manchester City star is a well known Hoops supporter and was full of praise for the work being done by Steven Gerrard at Ibrox this season.

But he reckons they could take their eye off the ball in the Premiership with the latter stages of the Europa League on the horizon for Rangers.

Sinclair admits it's been a struggle for Neil Lennon's men this season but believes the emergence of David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro in the Europa League win over Lille can give him options.

Supporters want both players to play in Sunday's game against Kilmarnock and Sinclair reckons it can be the start of a comeback in Scotland.

He told talkSPORT: "They’ve done well haven’t they, finishing top of the group. I think Steven has done superbly well with that group of players, which hurts me to say, but they have been really consistent.

"The biggest thing for me is them being in Europe, that could take their eye off their league form.

"You can’t fault them, though.

"Celtic faltering makes that gap look huge. The two games in hand leaves it them at seven minimum.

"The thing is last night, there were a couple of players who got an opportunity and took it. David Turnbull did really well with his goal and I think (Ismaila) Soro did well in midfield.

"There’s a couple of options now and Neil can bring in different players and possibly turn it around in the league."
