Trevor Sinclair on the Celtic phone call that never came as Hoops fanatic shares major career regret

Former England international Trevor Sinclair has revealed his biggest regret is not playing for Celtic during his storied career.

The 47-year-old was one of the finest Premier League wide midfielders of his generation and earned 12 caps for his country, including appearances at the 2002 World Cup.

Sinclair admits he would have jumped at the chance to star in Glasgow if he was handed the opportunity.

The Londoner was a standout at West Ham under Harry Rednkapp before he enjoyed a wildly-successful four-year spell with Manchester City.

And Sinclair believes when his time at the Etihad came to an end would have been perfect for him to turn out in green and white.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "I would have loved to have played for Celtic, given the opportunity.

"Especially when I left Manchester City (in 2007), I had a fantastic year at Cardiff City, we got to the FA Cup Final but I feel if I had been shown some sort of interest from Celtic then I would definitely gone up north.

"I just feel with Twitter and social media platforms that you get the chance to say what you feel and I didn't get that in 2007, I didn't get the chance to put it out there.

"I've loved Celtic through a connection with my dad, who is from Glasgow and my mum, who is from southern Ireland. It was the only choice for me to support Celtic."
