Trevor Noah blasts spring breakers who partied during pandemic: 'It's the Harvey Weinstein of diseases, it doesn't ask for consent'

Trevor Noah has called the coronavirus the “Harvey Weinstein of diseases” – while criticising spring breakers who kept partying despite the pandemic.

The host made the comments in a segment filmed from his own home for his Daily Show.

He reacted to a news segment in which several revellers in Miami said they wouldn’t let the coronavirus get in the way of their plans.

Noah responded more specifically to a soundbite in which one of the interviewees said he wouldn’t “let” the virus stop him from partying.

“I’m sorry, what? You’re not gonna ‘let’ coronavirus stop you?” Noah asked.

“Coronavirus is not – you don’t need to let it, OK? Coronavirus is the Harvey Weinstein of diseases. It does not ask for consent, my friend.

“Kids making it sound like coronavirus is gonna ask for permission before jumping into your body.”

Weinstein was convicted of a criminal sex act and third-degree rape in February.

Noah reminded viewers that young people can also be gravely affected by the virus.

They can also spread it to those around them, even if they feel healthy – hence the importance to maintain social distances to limit the spread of the illness.
