Trevor Noah apologises over India and Pakistan conflict jokes on the The Daily show

Comedian Trevor Noah has apologised after jokes he made about the crisis in Kashmir sparked outrage on social media.

On a segment on America’s The Daily Show, the comic said a war between Pakistan and India would be “the most entertaining”, adding “it would also be the longest war of all time - another dance number!”

Tensions between the two sides have soared in recent days following a series of military skirmishes in the disputed Kashmir region.

Thousands of Indians vented their anger at the jokes, with one accusing Noah of mocking “war through a Bollywood stereotype”.

Noah responded: “I am sorry that this hurt you and others, that’s not what I was trying to do.”

He added that he was amazed the joke “trended more than the actual conflict itself”.
