Trevor Lawrence diagnosed with high ankle sprain, says Doug Pederson

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has a high ankle sprain, Doug Pederson told reporters Tuesday.

“Everything is stable, everything looks good,” Pederson said. “We’ll see where he is here in a couple days.”

Pederson said it’s too early to determine a timetable for Lawrence’s return and wasn’t willing to rule him out from playing in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns. He also said the team hasn’t had any discussions about acquiring another quarterback.

If Lawrence is forced to miss time, Jacksonville will turn to C.J. Beathard as the starting quarterback. After the game, Pederson and Jaguars players expressed confidence in the 30-year-old veteran.

Lawrence, 24, was injured in the fourth quarter of the Jaguars’ 34-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals when his ankle was stepped on by offensive tackle Walker Little.

After attempting to get back to his feet, Lawrence collapsed back to the ground and threw his helmet in frustration. He was eventually helped off the field by trainers and exited to the locker room.

Lawrence finished the night with two passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and a season-high 125.4 passer rating.
