Jan. 06--After a slow first period, the Blackhawks brought some offensive firepower in the second period against the Penguins and lead 2-0.
Artemi Panarin scored the first goal of the game when he converted a one-time opportunity from Patrick Kane in the second period. Kane and Panarin had a 2-on-1 and Panarin beat Marc-Andre Fleury stick side to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. It was Panarin's 12th goal of the season.
Then late in the period Brent Seabrook's shot from the right wing hit captain Jonathan Toews in front of the net and trickled past Fleury. It was Toews' 14th goal of the season.
Corey Crawford stopped 21 shots through two periods.
