Trevor Carson wanted by Livingston as Motherwell keeper attracts interest from Aberdeen

Livingston want to land Motherwell keeper Trevor Carson.

Livi boss Gary Holt is keen to hold pre-contract talks with the Northern Ireland international next month.

The 31-year-old is set to become a free agent in the summer and is also attracting interest from Aberdeen and other Premiership rivals.

Holt wants to sign Carson for next season.

Livi currently have Matija Sarkic on loan from Aston Villa but he will return to Villa Park in the summer and they want another experienced keeper to fight it out with Ross Stewart for the gloves.

Carson has not played for Motherwell since last November after he suffered a career-threatening blood clot while away on international duty.

He is now back training and fully-fit but has been unable to dislodge Fir Park No. 1 Mark Gillespie, although he did win an international recall in May.

Gillespie is also out of contract at Motherwell and is stalling over a new deal.

Manager Stephen Robinson could yet offer Carson an extension if Gillespie decides to quit.

Aberdeen are also interested but Carson would be well aware if he went to Pittodrie then he would have to play second-fiddle against to their captain Joe Lewis.

Carson - who was the subject of a bid from Celtic back in January last year – will have plenty to consider over the coming weeks.
