Trentbarton to withdraw bus service due to lack of passengers

Bus operator Trentbarton has announced one of its services will be taken out of operation in May due to a lack of customers.

The number 25 bus was introduced in November last year to move people around Ilkeston and nearby Kirk Hallam - with the service running alongside the Ilkeston Flyer and the 21 bus.

But officials at the company say the service has not carried enough passengers to make it "commercially sustainable" and it will cease running from Sunday, May 26.

A spokesman said: "This decision was not taken lightly, and came after much consideration. We would like to thank all of our customers who have travelled with us on 25, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

The 25 route will still be served by the Ilkeston Flyer, 21 and 20 service, on Sundays only, according to Trentbarton.
