Trent Williams misses deadline to report in time for Week 1 game

This is news that was expected to come out Wednesday morning, but it’s been made official: Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams officially did not show up to the team facilities on September 4th, which means his holdout will continue, and he won’t play on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, at the very least.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and multiple sources on the ground, Williams did not partake in practice with the team today, making him ineligible for Sunday’s game. He will miss the first game check of the season, worth approximately $638,235.

On Tuesday, Rapaport said on the NFL Network that he has heard that Williams could possibly return to the team “sooner rather than later,” possibly before the Redskins week 2 game.

Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen, but for now, we know that he will be absent this coming Sunday at the very least.
