Trent Williams did not pass his physical, contrary to prior reports

According to multiple reports out of Washington, left tackle Trent Williams did not pass his physical on Wednesday morning, contrary to prior beliefs.

After practice — which Williams did not attend — interim coach Bill Callahan told the media that he had talked to Williams for over an hour, and that the 31-year-old did not pass his physical on Wednesday morning after he felt discomfort when putting on his helmet. Last season, Williams was diagnosed with a growth on his head, which started the misgivings he had with the Redskins medical staff.

It is unclear what exactly this means for Williams’ status going forward, but it is seemingly likely that he will not be playing for the Redskins any time soon. When asked about the tackle’s future on Wednesday, Callahan said that he hopes Williams will play for Washington again in the future, and that his heart is in the right place.
