Trent Williams could see hefty fine should he hold out of Redskins training camp

The news broke on Monday afternoon that Washington Redskins’ left tackle Trent Williams will likely miss part of training camp once it kicks off on Wednesday, and now it’s coming out how costly that could be.

The Redskins will be hurting in his absence, yes, but Williams is also open to a hefty fine should he continue the holdout.

Williams is set to earn just under $15 million in 2019, so that may seem like small change. Still, it adds up.

Mike Garafolo reported on Monday that the veteran left tackle could be away from the team for a while, and there is no indication what progress, if any, has been made with the Redskins front office.

There is no doubt that should Williams decide to return to the team before the season begins, he will be welcomed with open arms. It just may be his wallet, and not his desire to play, driving that decision.
