49ers color commentator Tim Ryan broke some injury news for the team during Saturday’s broadcast of the preseason opener. He said wide receiver Trent Taylor had surgery on a broken foot. General manager John Lynch joined the broadcast and confirmed the injury. There’s no specific timetable for his return.
Taylor was putting together a really good camp after a disappointing 2018 season. The 2017 fifth-round pick looked really strong as a rookie, but offseason back surgery hampered him throughout his second season.
He looked primed for a bounce-back year before the foot surgery. There isn’t a specific date for his return, although the team hopes he may be available by Week 1 of the regular season.
