Trent Alexander-Arnold insists Liverpool will hunt down records despite moving to the brink of securing the Premier League title.
The England right-back scored in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, with Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane also finding the back of the net.
The result leaves the Reds 23 points clear of Manchester City, who have eight games remaining and travel to face Chelsea tonight.
Failure to win will hand Jurgen Klopp’s side the title, but Alexander-Arnold insists there will be no let up for their final seven games.
“Whatever happens, we’ve still got to go to City and try to get a result. We’ve got a lot of games left... so we’ve got to keep pushing ourselves and hopefully break a few records,” Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports.
“We’ve waited a long time for this and we’ve worked hard over the last few years as a team, a squad and a club... this is what we’ve dreamed of. We’re in a good position, hopefully, we can get it over the line soon.
“We’ve got to focus on ourselves and not take things for granted. We’re not hoping City lose or drop points... It’s in our hands.”
One of the first records the Reds could target could be Manchester City’s record points total (100) from 2017/18.
Liverpool are currently on 86 points and could reach 107 points if they win their remaining games, meaning they have a six-point cushion to be able to reach that milestone.
