Trent Alexander-Arnold teases Jordan Henderson as Liverpool players take lactate test

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum were back training at Melwood today.

The four Liverpool players completed the lactate test which measures endurance level with a series of runs and increasing speeds.

The quartet were all in action last month in the UEFA Nations League, with Holland beating England in the semi-final before losing to hosts Portgual. England beat Switzerland on penalties to clinch third place.

Alexander-Arnold posted to Twitter after carrying out the test teasing Henderson with a picture of the four players as it looks like the captain is speaking while Wijnaldum and Van Dijk laugh but the young right-back has a more stern face.

There are now only five senior players yet to return to pre-season training with Sadio Mane still on international duty with Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah on holiday following their participation in the same tournament and Brazil duo Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino on a break after winning the Copa America last weekend.
