Trent Alexander-Arnold sends out warning over Liverpool's 'frightening' new duo

Trent Alexander-Arnold claims Liverpool youngsters Kaide Gordon and Harvey Elliott have "frightening" potential and has backed the pair for bright futures at Anfield.

The exciting duo have been involved in the Reds' pre-season schedule this summer and have caught the eye when performing in Jurgen Klopp's side.

Gordon joined the Reds back in February from Derby County and is already making a positive impression at the age of 16, meanwhile Elliott is being tipped for first-team opportunities having shone on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season.

Alexander-Arnold now considers it his duty to support the two teenagers as they continue to grow and is determined to act as their role model - just as Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson did for him.

“I’ve wanted to be with them (Elliott and Gordon) like Hendo was with me — a mentor,” the Reds' right-back told The Athletic.

“Hendo tried to lead by example and show me the way. Everything I do is trying to set the example for them, just as Hendo did for me.

“I think I’ve got a really good bond with the pair of them. Kaide has so much potential; it’s frightening, really. Same with Harvey. Going out last season and getting experience has been good for him. Hopefully this season he’ll get some more minutes under his belt and try and establish himself as part of the first-team set-up."

Liverpool have not spent heavily like many of their Premier League rivals this summer, but are well-stocked with attacking talent within the squad.

The two players must remain patient for opportunities, though Alexander-Arnold has insisted that they are in the perfect environment to experience development.

“It’s an exciting time, to see two young lads come through. Kaide will be looking up to Mo (Mohamed Salah) and trying to pick bits from him because, on and off the pitch, Mo is an outstanding athlete and an outstanding person. He looks after himself really well and is dedicated to his craft and the game," said the 22-year-old.

“As a young lad, there aren’t many more places you want to be than Liverpool if you look at how seriously everyone takes the game and how dedicated people are in terms of making them the best version of themselves every day."
