Trent Alexander Arnold's 'clever' Andy Robertson decision as hilarious Liverpool bet renews

Trent Alexander-Arnold has appeared to poke fun at Andy Robertson after the right-back got one over on his team in their battle to secure the most assists.

Robertson revealed in the summer that were was going to be a second edition of the assist competition between the two, following last season's battle. 

Alexander-Arnold claimed the crown last season after finishing the campaign with 12, registering one more than Robertson.

“We’ve had a brief discussion over it. We’ll set it up again,” Robertson told Liverpoolfc.com during the summer.

Fast forward to tonight, and the duo combined for one of the best goals scored under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, with the German himself even later describing it as "brilliant".

So often the provider, Robertson this time got his name on the scoresheet when he finished Alexander-Arnold's cross at the back post following a fine passage of play in the build-up.

The goal put Klopp's side 2-0 up at Anfield, and although the Austrian side later pegged Klopp's men back, courtesy of goals from Hwang Hee-Chan, Takumi Minamino and Erling Braut Håland, Mohamed Salah spurred the Reds' blushes when he struck with 21 minutes remaining.

But afterwards, the England international appeared to take aim at his team-mate, writing on Twitter: "Robbo can’t get an assist if he’s scoring #CleverTrent."

Alexander-Arnold's assist against the Austrian giants was his third in all competitions so far this season, putting him one ahead of Robertson.

Liverpool are back in action when they take on Leicester in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
